World’s Best Oatmeal Cookies

     The recipe came frommy aunt, Waunita Jeffries Bateman. It originally called for solid shortening  but my mom, Phyllis Jeffries Newell, changedit to oil as she thought the dough was a bit dry.      Barry tried one of these cookies and thought they might be aptly named, after quite a few more, he was sure!
World’s Best OatmealCookies 3 eggs, well beaten                                                                  1 cup raisins                                                                            1 teaspoon vanilla                                                                               1 cup vegetable oil (canola)                                                                 1 cup packed brown sugar                                                                  1 cup granulated sugar                                                                        2½ cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt2 teaspoons baking soda1 teaspoon ground cinnamon2 cups oatmeal, old-fashioned or quick1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts are our favorite)

1.     Combineeggs, raisins and vanilla and let stand for one hour. 
This step plumps the raising and makes them nice and tender.
2.     Mixtogether oil and sugars. 
3.     Combineflour, salt, soda and cinnamon into oil-sugar mixture and mix well.
4.     Blendin egg and raisins. 5.     Addoatmeal and nuts. 
The dough is mixed and ready to shape into cookies.
6.     Dropdough by spoonsful onto ungreased cookie sheet; and flatten slightly with your hand.
Use a scoop for uniform sized cookies.
7.      Bake in a preheated 350° for 10 to12 minutes.
